David -

I am about to travel to China to pick up our daughter without my wife due to a pregnancy.  I was hoping I could talk to you about your experiences.  I don't know if you still check this or not, but I thought I'd give it a try.  Please send me an email if you can.  Thanks.  Jake

Hi,
I have enjoyed following your family's story over the past year.  We are another my adoption website family.  We just came home with our daughter Sophia (Sophia's Amazing Journey).  We too have a biological son.  Sophia and Graham are exactly 12 months apart.  It was so wonderful following your journey.

Wow!  I can't believe you all have been home for one year.  I followed your journey last year and enjoyed reading every word of it.  Your last picture is just gorgeous of your whole family!  Congratulations on your 1 year together as a family of 4!  Your children are darling!

My name is Beth and my LID March 15th,2006 for NSN.  Right now the CCAA is up to 27 months waiting.  But it keeps growing month by month.  I know it will happen and in the meantime your site along with everyone elses inspires me and fills me with hope.  Thanks for sharing the details...it really paves the road for waiting families.  Again, congratulations!

Just felt the need to say thank you for listening to your hearts and going through the long adoption process!  One year ago we traveled to China to bring a beautiful little girl home to be a part of our family - it's hard to believe that it's actually been that long.  I will never forget that day, "gotcha day", when Ainsley was placed in David's arms - it was "real" at last - this little girl that we'd all been waiting for and praying for.  I know there have been up's and down's over the past year, but you have done a great job becoming new parents and I'm proud of you and your precious family.  Ainsley has changed so much - it's so wonderful to see that sweet smile so often and hear her laughter - she's such a happy little girl.  I never would have dreamed that I (the one who doesn't really like to travel) would find myself in China someday, but I'd do it again for the "prize" that was awaiting us!  Thank you for letting me be a part of that special time in your life - for allowing me to share in your joy and your struggles.  There will always be a special place in my heart for Ainsley - she was a part of our family in my heart before we ever knew her name or her face because God put that love there while we waited.  It's a very special time as the anniversary of "gotcha day" approaches and I'm glad that I will be with you guys on that special day and then on Ainsley's second birthday.  We have so much to celebrate - two precious little gifts from God - both in His perfect timing.  I will never understand how God can be so good to us as undeserving as we are at times, but I'm so thankful that His love looks beyond our unworthiness and blesses us with such awesome treasures.  I'll never be able to put into words all that I feel when I reflect on my family - my children and grandchildren - my heart just overflows with thanksgiving for God's blessings in my life.  I love you all and treasure you - I pray God will continue to bless your marriage and your family.  Please always allow Him room in your home.

Greetings from Maryland!

I came across your website many months ago just before you received your referral of Ainsley and have so enjoyed following your journey.  We, too, recently adopted our daughter, Ande, and were actually in China and Guangdong the exact same time (early April)!  I continue to check back for updates periodically and am always pleased to see how well you all are doing.  You have been blessed with wonderful, adorable children!  May God continue to bless your family!

I'm sure keeping this website current is a great challenge, however, I want to thank you both for doing it.  I do look forward to checking it out every month and I remind several women on this campus that it's been updated so they can read up on you as well!  Keep up the good work.  The kids are growing so fast and are simply adorable!! One of the faculty members in ERS left last Friday for China with her husband to get their new family member, "Anna."   It's been a long and nerve wracking wait for them.  I'm very anxious to hear their story as well.   I know she was following along on your story which was a big help to her.....   thank you again for your time and sharing special moments of your family with "the world."

As always, it is amazing how quickly this update appears!  I can't believe how quickly these two are growing!  It was fun to read about your visit to Lancaster since we go to market almost every time we are there, too.  The details in your writing make it so easy to feel a part of your family and what you are going through!  Shannon, I'd love to see you again sometime soon.  Things are really hectic here since dance class, Wednesday morning Bible study, and preschool (TR afternoons) have all started this week!  The girls are holding up so well and even starting to go without their afternoon naps - it's a hard adjustment for me!  Since most mornings are free, maybe we could schedule a trip to the mall for a little excursion - or even join you at North Park for a walk - I could take the double stroller, too.  Let's be in touch!  Congrats - you guys are doing such a great job!  Love, Shawna

Ainsley has been one terrific little girl...she has adapted to her new surroundings so well. I can't get over the fact that she eats so many different things...like guacamole off the spoon! And Griffin is growing too fast! When I look back on his new born pictures, I can't get over how he's changed. Quite a handsome young man! Well, you both are doing a great job as parents...I am very proud of you. I have been bless with so many wonderful things. These two little beautiful children have a huge place in my heart!

Just read your July entry - it's hard to believe that three months have already past since our trip to China!  Ainsley's 15 mos. old and Griffin's 4 mos. old - and how they both have changed.  They're both so precious!!  I'm so glad that you were able to come to visit and hope that there will be other trips in the future (maybe not too far apart) and of course I do plan to head up north before too long.  Don't think I'll be able to go too long without seeing those two (and, of course, you two also).  Isn't it amazing how much things have changed and how you've grown as Mommy and Daddy over the last 3 months - God's grace is sufficient.  I'm still in awe at how God has worked in your life and how He has blessed you.  I know you already know this, but the greatest gift you'll ever give Griffin and Ainsley is to teach them His truth and to make them aware of how God in his infinite wisdom made you a family of four. My prayer for you as a family is that you will continue to seek His face and lean on Him for the strength and wisdom that it takes to share life and parent Griffin and Ainsley.  Please never forget or take for granted all He has done for you - it's so easy to do when, for the most part, life is running on the smooth road.  I continue to thank Him and praise Him for how He has blessed me so bountifully - three children whom I love dearly and now six grandchildren to love.  I am convinced that He has orchestrated it all and "hand picked" Ainsley to be one of those six. I'm very proud of you and how you've brought your "family-of-four" together.  It will be exciting to see what the next month will hold and how everyone will change.  I love you all - as always I'm sending hugs and kisses to Griffin and Ainsley. God bless - Mama/Meme

Hi! I, too, am waiting on a baby girl from China and I was curious if you would share with me your agency. I would love to talk to you about how you birthed a baby and adopted as this is my desire, too. I am wondering if I get pregnant will they put me on hold? From my understanding my agency will put me on hold if I get pregnant but I haven't asked them about it since I have been LID. I am already LID, but just recently. With the wait time, I would love to go ahead and birth a child now. I am so happy for you and would love to hear back from you.

the pictures truly say it all.  ainsley seems to have adjusted well considering the adjustment placed upon her.  that is truly a blessing from the Lord!!!!  He is so good and His timing is so perfect!!!!  remember over the next few weeks that His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses!!!!!  when we are weak, He is strong!!!

it is very hard to believe you are now a family and party of "four."  wow!  how will we ever get a place to fit all of us in a restuarant now!?!?!?!?!?  that will be a challenge when you visit now!  oh well.  challenges are good to grow our character, which is what God desires to do in us if we allow Him.

Dear Ainsley,
Welcome Home, welcome to the USA and to Pennsylvania.  You are now home with your Mommy and Daddy and your little brother Griffin.  Your Mommy and Daddy are very lucky to have you as their very own daughter to raise and love for the rest of their lives.  You will find that they are very loving and energetic, and now that you are a part of this family you will add your grace and energy to the family.
Your Mommy and Daddy love you with all of their hearts as well as your brother Griffin and all of your Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, nephews, nieces and many others who have been completely thrilled to watch while you made your way to your new home in Pittsburgh.  While we thank God for those that cared for you in your 1st year of life, we also thank God that you have come here so that we can love you too.
I love your Mommy and Daddy, I love your brother Griffin and now Ainsley....................I love you too.

Renee and I have enjoyed keeping track of your journey.  We continue to be blown away by the undeserved goodness of God.  Ainsley is a gift to you as you know.  She will give you glimpses into the heart of the Father like you've never known before.  David--Don't forget that the first and greatest demonstration of the love of Christ that you will show Ainsley (and Griffin) is in your Christ-like love for Shannon.  Shannon--Don't forget that the first and greatest demonstration of the love of Christ that you will show Ainsley (and Griffin) is in the way you esteem David as your husband.  It's easy to be so mesmerized by these precious gifts that you forget the gifts that God intended for you to be to one another.  Our prayer is that your lives would be filled to overflowing with the knowledge and the living experience of Him who gave His life for you and chose you to be children of the King!

O how He loves you and me
O how He loves you and me
He gave His life
What more could He give?
O how He loves you
O how He loves me
O how He loves you and me

Hi David and Shannon, Griffin and Ainsley and "traveling Grandmas"!!!

What a beautiful little niece you are!!  I see your trusting spirit in your big brown eyes.  You are wanted and loved by all of us.  Uncle Carl and I will meet when you come to visit Lancaster County.  We will show you the cows and Amish and of course, the fire trucks at Willow Street Fire Co!!!!

"Thank you , God, for blessing us beyond our comprehension.  Surround this family with your protective angels and lead them all  to a closer understanding of your unconditional love".

From this time on, David and Shannon, your hearts will walk outside of your own body, what a privilege, what a responsibility.  You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.  You are never alone.
Blessings to all of you, I love the pictures and your journal entries.
Happy Easter!!
love and hugs,

Aunt i

Ainsley looks so much like David... best wishes for a safe trip home and an easy transition for Ainsley.

I cannot tell you how blessed I have been from your story!!  It is such a reminder of God's provision and hope for all of us....but how amazing that he created Ainsley for your family. Maybe it's my own post partum hormones, but I just cry everytime I look at the pictures and read David's journal...what a miracle she is...to think of her little self one year ago and look at her now, clung to her daddy! You are all in my daily prayers!

                     HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, AINSLEY

I have printed all journal entries and pictures of your China trip and shown them to many people, especially at Church last night, and the one common comment I have received is:  She looks like David.  That has been my thought since the first picture I saw of her.  She could pass for your biological daughter. Maybe that's because she was meant especially for you and Shannon.  May God continue to bless you all as you make your way back home to little Griffin and Shannon.  I know Shannon can't wait to meet her new daughter.

Tell Dianne I said "Hi" and to bring lots of pictures.

Hi Shannon,
I have been clicking through this website and came across your journey and thought to myself, "I know her!"  I just wanted to send you a note to say congratulations on both of your babies and wish you a lifetime of happiness!   It's been forever since I last talked to you and hope that your parents and sisters are doing well.  Tell them I said hi, if they remember me!  Anyway, I couldn't believe that I actually found someone I knew on this site and thought it was such a coincidence that you were on here, we just started our journey and hope to be logged in sometime in July!  I don't want to go on forever, but I just wanted to say hi and if you want to, drop me a line and let me know what else you've been up to and where you live now.
I'm so happy for you and your family!

I have been thrilled to get all the information about the trip to China and the pictures you've sent.  Ainsley is a little doll and I just love the way she took to David.  Wish Norm and I could be there to welcome you all home, but I guess we'll be in Florida visiting our Grandkids.  Everyday I come to the computer to check for an update the minute I get up..  Today was very special when I saw the pictures of Ainsley and David together at last.  Also I received the pictures of Griffin from Shannon.  How lucky you two are - 2 beautiful, healthy babies at once.  I'm sure the 2 grandmas are having a ball. and proud as can be.   Can't wait to see both babies.  I may have to make a trip to PA soon.  Congratulations and best wishes.  Norm and I will be praying for a safe trip back home for all of you and a great reunion with Shannon and Griffin.

We love you all,  Aunt Donna and Uncle Norman
