Sorry it's been so long since we updated. We're having a
hard time with email in China.
Saturday was a busy day! We left the Plaza at 8:30 and went to
Tiananmen Square, the
Forbidden City and the Clossone factory. We had lunch there and
had time to shop a little
then we went to the Great Wall.
The square is really big and it was even more crowed because
there is an African Summit
in Beijing this weekend. There were so many people but it was
really nice to see. Beijing
is getting ready for the Olympics so there are vendors selling
all kinds of things. We were
approached by several beggars. One of them even pinched a guy in
our group on the
arm!
We enjoyed the Forbidden City but a lot of the buildings are
closed for renovation. Maybe
one day we'll come back and see it when it's fully open.
The Clossone factory was really interesting. ..so was the lunch!
I bought a couple of
Christmas ornaments there.
On to the Great Wall...guess who climbed to the top? NOT ME!!!
It was too steep for me
and I didn't want to meet my baby on crutches. Rodney did climb
to the top and has a
Hero Card to prove it. Luckily he didn't break any bones.
The wall is amazing and to stand there and know all the history
behind it is truly amazing.
