June 19, 2006
This time last year, I was rushing around getting our
paperwork to and from the Secretary of State's office and then
the same for the Chinese Consulate. Our paperwork left the US
for China on July 8, 2005 and was logged in with the Chinese
government on July 20. Tomorrow will be 11 months since they
logged our paperwork.
I thought by now we would have Gracie, celebrated our first
Mother and Father's Day as parents of a little girl and be
remembering our wonderful trip to China. Reality is that
tomorrow is 11 months since our paperwork was logged in and we
still don't have a referral. The process, which was supposed to
be 6 months, has stretched out so long.
So far, they have issued referrals to families logged in through
June 15, 2005. Another set of referrals should go out sometime
this week or early next. There is a rumor that they may finish
June or at least go to the 28th. This would be amazing,
considering they've only been doing about 5-7 days per month. If
they go this far, we may see Gracie's face in late July or
August.
This is not really a happy update but it does have potential to
be more positive than the past months. I would appreciate prayer
because I get really sad at this time of the month and it gets
harder as each month passes. Also, let's pray that they get most
(if not all) of June done.
So, that’s that! On to what the boys have been doing. We’ve been
really busy. The boys just got back from youth camp and had a
blast! They’re enjoying the summer and hanging out with friends.
We took them on an overnight trip to Orlando last month and went
to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. Chase is now gone
to FSU for two weeks for band camp. It seems the summer is going
by so fast!
Chase and Dylan, along with friends, attended an end of school
year dance with the teens from our homeschool group. They had
fun and danced the night away!
