July 29, 2006

July 2006 is coming to a close and we’re not going to see Gracie’s face this month. Referrals have left China and they’re for people logged-in between June 29 and July 13, 2005. What does that mean to us? Well, it means that we, barring any unforeseen freaky scenario which I’m sure I’ve already imagined and worried about, we *WILL* get our referral in August. Finally, we will see the face of our daughter. Typically referrals arrive in the US around the 25-28 of the month. Of course this month is different because the CCAA has been planning to move for a long time and they decided to do just when we were up for referral. Yes, I’m taking it personally! People tend to believe they would have gotten much farther with referrals if it wasn’t for the move. Oh well, what can we do? Stay tuned…Gracie Day should be happening by the end of August.

This has been a crazy summer already. I feel like we haven’t done much but we’ve been going non-stop! We celebrated Blake’s 13th birthday on July 18th. He wanted to go fishing so Rodney rented a boat and took all the boys, ours plus their two good friends, to Lake Okeechobee for the day. That night we cooked out and had cake. How in the world did all of my kids get to be teenagers?!?!

The boys have been busy with church activities and hanging with friends. I’m trying to start getting things in order for the school year. That’s about all that’s going on here.

Until next month, enjoy this poem.

KISSES IN THE WIND

I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...
Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you, my darling; I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.
But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let the angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.
