We
have wonderful news; our dossier was logged in at CCAA on July
20th! Now our official wait for Emma begins. We’re
very happy that we got logged in so soon. Now, if they continue
to do referrals in split months we’ll make the cutoff and not
have to wait longer. Referrals for December/January arrived
this week and almost all of January received referrals. We’re
very happy for these people, and to us it means things are right
on track. We should have a picture of Emma in January as well
as her information. That will bring extra joy to our holiday
season!
We have still been very busy working on the house. We have the
boys’ rooms finished and they’re all settled in. We painted
Emma’s room…pink of course! We also moved in the dressing chest
we bought her and put her things in the closet. We have the
crib set up, too. I just got it yesterday. It was Emma’s first
gift and it was from my parents...her Grams and Papaw. We thank
you both very much!!! Today I put the bedding in the crib and
it looks great! This week I will get curtains and get
those up. I will post pictures with our next update, once the
room is done.
We celebrated Blake’s birthday last week and had lots of fun.
He’s 12 now, wow does time fly! We also went to a waiting
family dinner. It was great. It was at a local Asian
restaurant and there were 92 people there. A few people spoke
about their experiences and there was time to just chat and get
to know each other. Of course all the little girls were
adorable.
We’re continuing to read just about anything can get our hands
on to do with Chinese adoption. Also, about bonding and
attachment in adoption, there is so much to learn. We’re making
plans to make sure we fully bond with Emma when we get her. Our
June and July DTC lists are gearing up for Secret Pal Exchanges.
This will be fun. We’re going to do a small gift exchange each
month until referrals. We’re also going to do a 100 Good Wishes
Quilt Swap. Hopefully, I’ll get enough squares to make Emma a
quilt. Blake said he’ll help sew it if I need him. I probably
will. I’m still working on my first little quilt I started.
Yikes, I guess I need to get that going.
The other night Rodney and I were talking about all the things
going on in our life. It’s amazing to think that our little
girl is somewhere right now. She’s alive on the other side of
the world. We don’t know how old she is or when she was born,
but there is a strange feeling within me that I already know
her. I already love her, too, just like when I was pregnant
with my boys Isn’t it strange how you can feel so
connected with someone you’ve never even seen? When we get to
see her picture, I wonder if she’ll look familiar.
The boys are busy. Of course summer is starting to wind down.
Soon, we’ll have fall baseball and of course high school
football games to attend. As well as back in full swing with
our school schedule. I’m glad, though, that we’ll be busy.
Time should fly by. Chase is going to be a junior in high
school…and he’ll be 16 next week, yes next week! Where did the
time go? We’re going to work on getting the car fixed that we
bought for him and we’ll go order his class ring in the next few
weeks. It’s a very exciting time around here right now.
That’s all I have for now. I’ll update again in a couple of
weeks.
