It’s time to update but not much to tell. We’re still in the
waiting process. Tomorrow is the 2 month anniversary of our log
in date with China. That means we are 60 days into our
(roughly) 180 day wait until referral. We’re still hoping for a
January referral and travel between February and March. We’ve
been working on Emma Grace’s room and doing things around the
house. She now has a *few*
dresses so we thought it was time to get some essentials. I got
her a car seat and high chair recently. It’s nice to see the
high chair sitting in the dining room waiting for her. I also
got her some bottles, a few other necessities…and a few more
dresses!
The boys are busy with school, church, music and lots of other
stuff. Chase is really enjoying having wheels to get around and
I’m getting better about him being on the road. He’s doing well
with his school work, but his schedule is brutal. He has so
much on his plate. Dylan and Blake are doing well. We’re doing
a unit study on China for the first part of our school year.
We’re all learning lots and looking forward to seeing things
first hand.
Last night we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival with local
families with children from China. Our friends, the Bellingers,
joined us. We had a nice time and all the little children were
cute in their traditional clothes. We’re also active in a new
group forming in the area, Families With Children from China
South Florida. We’ve been attending waiting family dinners the
last few months and now we’re working to make it a more official
group offering support and friendship. It’s just getting
started but we’re very excited. We’re meeting lots of nice
families and making friends. I met one of the ladies at the
mall on Saturday for a girl’s day of lunch and shopping for our
soon to be babies. We had lots of fun!
Well, this is going to be short. I’ll update again by the end
of the month…hopefully the weather will hold out and I’ll be
able to post pictures of Chase’s band performance. Please
continue to remember to pray for Emma Grace and our family. For
now, enjoy this poem.
Legacy of an Adopted Child
Once there were two women who never knew each other.
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother.
Two different lives shaped to make you one. One became
your guiding star; the other became your sun.
The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to
live it. The first gave you a need for love. The
second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality. The other gave you a name.
One gave you a talent. The other gave you aim.
One gave you emotions. The other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile. The other dried your tears.
One sought for you a home that she could not provide.
The other prayed for a child and her hope was not denied.
And now you ask me, through your tears,
the age-old question unanswered through the years.
Heredity or environment, which are you a product of?
Neither, my darling. Neither. Just two different kinds of
Love.
