Today our guide took us to see Maggie's finding spot. Her
paperwork said that she was found in front of a Post Office. It
was actually a receiving area for mail, where the trucks are
based. It was a very emotional moment for me. Those of you who
have done this can understand these feelings. I am glad that I
was able to get pictures and video of this for her. We used
Kristy's camera for those shots and I can't get her pictures
onto my computer, so you will have to wait until I get home for
those.
Here are some Maggie highlights from today~
~She called me Mama...and gave me lots of kisses and hugs!
~She has begun to bond to me. I had wondered if she really knew
the difference between Kristy and I, and today she has started
to be very clingy. I had some paperwork to do and I was going to
put her down for her nap and leave Kristy with her. She kept
getting up when I laid her down, and then when I put my bag on
to leave, she began to wail. Well, needless to say, she went
with us. This was the first time I saw her really favor me, but
Kristy said that she lights up when I am around.
~She is very ticklish and loves when we tickle her.
~She loves her chapstick and has figured out how to take the cap
off and put it on. It goes on all over her face, but she loves
it. This is no the only thing out of her purse that she loves to
use. The other one is the cell phone. I remember reading in her
paperwork how much she loved cell phones...very true.
~I showed her a photo album and when I pointed at Jeff, she said
Ba Ba (Daddy). I think that the orphanage showed her our
pictures.
~She began to blow kisses to Jeff and the boys on Skype just a
few minutes ago (we are having trouble hearing them but can see
them) and that was the first time she has done that.
~At KFC she pointed at the french fries and looked like she knew
what they were. We had to introduce her to ketchup and she loved
it...she is a true American already.
She has been coughing since we got her and this afternoon she
seemed to go downhill quickly. I thought that she was sad at
first but then when I felt her, she was burning up...yep, 103
temperature. Oh boy. We gave her some Advil and decided to start
her on the antibiotic because the cough sounded very croupy. We
canceled our trip to the tea house because we want her to
hopefully make the Panda Research Center tomorrow.
Love goes out to all of you at home. Kristy and I get up in the
morning and cry through the reading of the guestbook
comments...they mean so much.
Til tomorrow~
