ONE WEEK SINCE MAGGIE DAY
Am I dreaming?
Sometimes I just sit and look at Maggie while she is sleeping
and I still can't believe that she is our daughter. Jeff, you
just can't believe how blessed we are to have this child. When I
think of you holding your little girl for the first time, my
heart just bursts with joy! She truly is meant to be in our
family. And watch out boys, she is going to steal your hearts
and soften all of you up. I can see her now following all of you
around in the yard and cheering for you at all of your sporting
events.
Today we finished up all of the paperwork...hooray! This can be
very stressful, and I am happy to know that it is over. Our last
official adoption meeting is our Consulate appointment on
Thursday and then Maggie can leave the country.
We also had the medical exams for the children. All of the
children were upset during this, Maggie being no exception. When
they took her from me to weigh her, she cried, "Mama" over and
over again and held out her arms to me. Heartbreaking to watch,
but comforting to see her needing me.
We are getting to know the other children and their families,
having play groups in the hallway (and getting in trouble for
doing it).
Maggie is blossoming before out eyes, and for the past 2 days
has had no periods of sadness. She actually woke up happy today
for the first time, and the potty issues are improving (thanks
for all of the advice). Another accomplishment was a bath with
me last night that wasn't accompanied by any crying. I even
washed her hair!
Well, I am trying to get this to Joe by 8pm China time, sorry I
don't have more to write. Maggie and I are off to McDonald's for
some ice cream!
Love to everyone at home...only 4 more days~
