Dear Jennifer and Greg, What a blessing to be able to sit down and read about what God has purposed for your family and precious little Sam. It has been an honor to glimpse into your hearts as conveyed in writing, besides what you have shared with me personally, Jennifer. I can just picture little Samantha sitting in her crib, or surrounded by her siblings, who will all by vying to comfort her and make her laugh. I truly have tears in my eyes as I picture all this as our God gives us so much more than we could ask or imagine. He has given you this longing and the courage to follow it. I know He will greatly bless your famiy and Sam through it. I will look forward to hearing and reading updates and will continue to pray for His perfect timing and that He will smooth your path. What an awesome ride that God is taking you on!!! Thrilled to be looking on..... With expectation, Sylvia
sam, you are truly a gift from God! i believe all children who are adopted are a gift direct from God! parents pray for months which lead to years for a baby and God always knows the perfect family for each of us. i was adopted when i was six weeks old in memphis, tennessee. my parents had prayed for four years to have a child of their own and they never became pregnant. after i was born, my birth mother did not ever see me or hold me. i spent six weeks with a foster family before the baptist children's home found the perfect family for me. i have never had contact with my birth mother or birth father and have never had the desire! my mom and dad provided such a loving, nurturing and happy home that i never felt a void in my heart to search them out. i am now 38 years old and am so grateful to God for directing everyone to find me the family He knew was right for me. i know you will feel the same way, too. you are becoming a part of the most wonderful family i know. i met your family when i lived in charlotte in 1998......they were our neighbors. we immediately connected and have stayed connected all these years. your dad is hilarious and loving and will spoil you! your mom is genuine and compassionate and loyal! your brothers are talented and handsome and athletic and smart! and, your big sister is beautiful and brilliant and protective! i am truly looking forward to meeting you and helping you in any way that i can throughout your life. if you ever have any questions about adoption or the feelings that are associated with it, please feel free to call me anytime. God bless you in your life and your family! you are very, very special and were very, very much sought after! never forget that! love always, cindy frazier
Good luck from a friend of Barbara's. Judy Fahl

Smith family, What an awesome adventure you are on! I am sitting with my 5 year old catching up on your travels. I am reading through tears and he is asking a million questions..."Mommy, how long did it take to get to China?", "Mommy, do they eat all of those foods?", "Mommy, why are you crying- Sam looks soooo happy?" She does look happy and not just that but she also looks peaceful! I saw Joy this morning and could see the desperate look in her eye to go and get Sarah Mei...they are so close! We cannot wait to meet Sam!! Jesus, Be with this precious family throughout China and protect their travel. Give them strength when they see things that are unfair or difficult and bring them joy with each step of this amazing process, knowing that You are in control. I know that it has been a long road, but God has obviously blessed you with a beautiful addition to your wonderful family! You all look and sound so happy! We will continue to pray for you and your group to have a safe, healthy, and happy time. Enjoy your trip of a lifetime! Josh and Stephanie vanAlmen
Looks like another wonderful day for the Smith family! You guys will probably never know how many people your journey has touched. I find myself clicking on others' website and tearing up over their stories. God is a BIG God! Thought the boys might like this story: I was at my sister-in-law, Ann's house today and she said, "Who do you know adopting a baby in China?" I said, "How do you know I know someone in China right now?" It turns out that her best friend's husband is the boys PE coach at ILMS! He and his wife were checking up on your journey and saw where I had signed your guest book. What a small world! Still praying for you! Aldyn
Dear Friends in Christ, We are the Finchers, in Schertz, TX. I am Ray Ledford's sister (Alison's sister-in-law). I just wanted to congratulate you on your beautiful new daughter! Many of your experiences sound so similar to what we experienced with our Shea. God is so good and He works out all the issues and the details. We know Sam will be as huge of a blessing to your family as Shea has been to ours. I cannot imagine life without her. It is humbling to be called to this beautiful experience. We wish you every blessing! Enjoy your final travels. Blessings, Gretchen Fincher
Dear Audrey Kate, I miss you. I know playing with you and your baby sister will be fun. I can't wait until you come back. I miss you! I got to feed the hermit crabs and it was really fun. They are doing OK but I think they miss you too. Bye, bye. Olivia
Dear Smith Family...I have surprised myself by being completly overwhelmed with emotion regarding your trip to China to bring home Samatha. I can hardly wait to see what you will post each day and wake up smiling, knowing that my cup will again be filled by the love you so generously give. I have wanted to write to let you know my thoughts but simply felt that words could never justify them. Thank you for the amazing love you have for Sam and for making her world a better place...Thank you for sharing this experience with our family and allowing our lives to be forever changed as well...Thank you for your constant faith and strength which is such an inspiration to us all...Thank you from the bottom of my heart...Thank you. Our family looks forward to your safe return and continues to send much love and many blessings. Ashley Comer
Hope you guys got a good nights rest and that Sammy is sleeping well. Love the Panthers gear. Unfortunately they lost, 20-6 I think. My kids would vote with Audrey Kate and go for the Chick-Fil-A nuggets...and then some ice cream! It's all here waiting on you with all of us! Can't wait to see you all back in the Carolinas! Hugs! Aldyn
As you probably already know the Panthers didn't fair too well.Smith was out with a pulled hamstring and ingrown toenail-ouch! I was wondering what you missed the most to eat so I laughed when you answered that. I would miss sweet tea!! I hop ethe days go by quickly for you until you return. Greg and Jennifer, We are in Cancun but are still checking in every day just the same. I can´t believe the way Sam has changed in just a few days. My heart was so full today and I couldn´t help but cry as I looked at your and the Lane´s pictures. The girls are such a blessing from God. Be safe and I am praying we make it home in time Thursday to cross paths in the airport! Dana Edmisten

Hi C.J. Congratulations!!! We are so happy about your new life with baby Samantha and your amazing trip. We can't wait to see you so you can share with the class. Ms. Singleton
Dear Smith Family, Sorry this entry is coming so late. I misplaced the website address, please forgive me. CJ, You are missed very much here at school but I am so glad you are getting to experience the world with your family. I am also happy and excited that everything is going well with Sam. She is absolutely beautiful. I know you will be a terrific big brother to her. From all your friends and teachers at IL, we miss you, love you and can't wait to have you back at school. To you and your family, Have a safe trip home:) Love- Mrs. Brandwood
Your journey as been absolutely amazing! I know how proud you must be of your pretty little girl. She is a great addition to an already great family. …For the guys…The Falcons gave the Panthers an absolute beat down! It was not the Panthers best effort. No S. Smith and D. Morgan got hurt(Head)…For Greg… You missed a great week in the office, no Bobby or Pete. It will be interesting to see if your stories will be able to top the Bossman’s. Travel safe. Trish and I can’t wait to meet Sammy. Mr. Stink
Dear Samantha, Happy first Birthday! What a blessing for you and your family to be together on your first birthday. I can remember counting to hours until your family would get on a plane and come to China and get you. Now I am counting the hours until you and your family get on a plane and come home so I can meet you. Over the past two weeks, you have changed so much just in pictures. Your eyes look so happy and you look so very healthy. I feel sure that in some ways you are mourning the only life you have ever known. However, sweet Samantha, God has so much prepared and planned for your life here in the USA. God bless you little one! You are truely loved on this the day, that we celebrate YOU! Love, Joy and Family
Happy Birthday Sam!! I hope that she is very happy with her new family and couldn't have a better home to grow up in. She is very cute. Yes, the Panthers lost, but not for lack of cheering from devoted fans, even if they were in China. I liked the picture of your family in the jerseys. Even Samantha was an "official" fan! Anyways, our first soccer game is tomorrow, and I'll try to get you the score. Bye for now. Your friend, Erik P.S. I'm sure all of the 8th grade is glad for your family and it's newest member.
Hi Smith's! By the time you get this, it should officially be Samantha's birthday, so "Happy Birthday Sam!". It has been such a joy and thrill to follow along in your awesome journey of obedience and the blessings that have resulted. I can truly echo the comment that Sam "glows" more in each photograph--how awesome to see her smiles, and to also hear of her weight gain and to see glimpses of her "bonding" with all of you. It truly is evident in the pictures that you have already become her family. Also, how, as much as she has been a part of your hearts for more than a year and a half, she is so firmly planted there now that you have been united. We can't express enough how we rejoice with you at God's faithfulness in this journey. Can't wait to see you all and to meet Sam. We'll be praying you home! Sylvia for the Stewart's
Happy first birthday Sammy! "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Jer. 29:11 Know you are loved by so many!!! Aldyn
Hello Smith Family- Greg, remember me?? It's been a long time, but I have been following your family's journey since my mom told me about this website. What a beautiful family you have!! It has been wonderful to read about Samatha and see all the pictures. I wish you all the best and much happiness. You are all blessed! Amy (Snead) Zimmermann and family P.S. ( You look just the same as you did high school- just a few more greys!!)
Happy First Birthday Samantha! Hope your first birthday was filled with much love, laughter and happiness! Many Blessings to you sweet girl! Jenny & Greg, I'm praying for you two as you prepare to leave China. I pray that you will have safe "uneventful" travels. Also, that Samantha's grieving will be short-lived. Can't wait to see you all! Much Love, Angie

Hi Greg and Jenny-A week ago or so I talked with Bob and he had told me about you all going to China to adopt a baby. Wow that is just awesome! I just called Barbara because Bob told me that she would be having her hip replaced on the 14th. I called to let he know that Mary Beth and I would be praying for her. Actually we had already started praying. We figured no need to wait! She is going to do fine but I am not sure about Bob! I told Barbara to take advantage of this time to rest and let Bob wait on her and and foot. She said that she already has a bell to ring when she needs him! Well congratulations to you all from the Howell family in Virginia Beach on your beautiful baby girl. We will be praying for a safe trip home! God bless, Gary and Mary Beth
Happy Birthday Sam!!! We hope your first birthday was as special as you are!!! You look adorable in your birthday dress. We love you! Kim, Chris , Grace and Emma
I hope that Sam's birthday was great. I know that she is going to have a great life with her new family, and I am glad that she has already come to love her new family. Anyways, I'm sorry to report that more than one cat family is down on their luck. The Cougars lost our first game to Charlotte Prep, 1-0. Stevo, C.J., could've used you out there. But we'll make do. I hope that your return flight is smooth, and look forward to seeing your entire family soon. Your friend, Erik.
Loved today's pictures! Samantha looks so cute in her birthday dress. I must say I love those 2 little front teeth!! Too cute! Praying you home. Aldyn
Jennifer, Su showed your pictures in kidz zone on Sunday, you know the one of the first time you held Samatha. Your eyes said it all! I have enjoyed watching your family on this web site. It has given me a glimpse of such love and blessings that only our Father can pour out. Isn't it amazing how we often think we are "blessing" someone only to find out how much they really "bless" us. May his angles encamp around you on your return at every turn. Sandy Hall
Greg,Jennie, and Kids, I hope you're having a good day with Sam today, she is so prescious. All children are gifts from God, and I believe she has put Samantha where he wants her to be and where she'll be loved. I will continue to pray for your trip and safe travel back. I can't wait to see her when you guys have a get together. take care and God Bless. Barney
We were so thrilled to follow the family through this exciting time. We cant wait to meet Samantha. What a wonderful family you are! The Panthers picture was great even though they LOST. Greg, Cindi and Alexandra Greenawalt
Dear Smiths,----If you get this before you leave China, then say goodbye to Sam's old home, but not for the last time, and turn towards her new home, where she will be raised by a loving family and in a comfortable home. Turn towards her new home and know that you all have friends and family waiting for you to step off of you plane, back to our lovely, red, Carolina clay. It will be good to see you again. May you have a great trip home.-----Your Friend, Erik.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What an amazing experience to see you come down that escalator at the airport. To see Samantha in Jenny's arms was incredible! And to see Samantha face to face and see the bond of love and trust that has already formed is touching. When I got home from the airport, the girls were asking me if I saw my friend and her baby. They wanted to see the pictures (again) so back to the website we went. Looking back at the pictures of all of you in China and having seen you arrive home is another reminder of God's faithfulness and goodness. Welcome home and thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us. Aldyn

The Smiths, We have been praying for you guys. It is such a joy to see all these pictures. It is hard to hold back the tears. (tears of joy) Selwyn has asked several times, Does Audrey Kate have her sister yet? Is she back home yet? When will I be able to see her? We did not get your website address until last Sunday. We had a lot of catching up to do. It sounds like you guys are home now. So, welcome home and we look forward to meeting your beautiful new addition. She looks sooo precious. Hello Smith Family! I love seeing all the new pictures of Samantha with her forever family. So excited to hear about her progress. Isn't it amazing how quickly they adjust to their new world? Ruby continues to make our world even brighter. Like Sam, she had only been standing up and then taking that one step before crashing. Then tonight, she decides to walk across the living room! We were thrilled. She's eating great, but definitely not making any attempt to feed herself. Maybe she can take some lessons from Sam :] Love, The Lanes...Richard, Sheila, Jada and Ruby
Thank you for sharing your journey. I really enjoyed visiting your website. Your daughter, Sam, is just beautiful. I wish you the best with your new addition to your family. Sherry Crist

Hi Jenny - We were forwarded your site information via Peter Doyle (Patti Doyle's brother-in-law). We are adopting from China but are very early in the process (LID 7/9/07). It is my understanding that we have almost a 2 year wait. It seems like an extremely long time but I hope it goes by fast. We have the same family dynamic as you - we have 2 boys and a girl. (Mac (7) Luke (5) and Siena (2 1/2). You website is amazing and I love your story. Overall, how have all of the children adjusted over the last year? Thanks for sharing - Michelle Toman (mtoman@bdtbev.com)
