LETTERS
Letter to Sam  |  Letter to Sam's Birth Mother

Dear Sam,

My sweet baby girl, I love you so much. You have been in my heart for many years. Did you know you’ve taught me so much about love? I never knew how deeply I could love someone I’ve never met. From the moment I knew you were coming I’ve been praying for you. I’m praying that God will protect and comfort you until I have you in my arms. With each step of this journey I’ve grown closer to you. I’ve prepared a beautiful room for you. It’s full of things that will remind you of your birth land. There are books to read, toys to play with, a nice warm crib, and a bed so I can sleep with you so you won’t be afraid.

You will also be coming home to two of the best big brothers anyone could have. Stephen, your oldest brother, will teach you how to fish. There’s a creek near our house with lots of “little fishes.” He can’t wait to take you fishing. C.J. will teach you how to play soccer and football. He also will never let you cry. He will stand on his head if that’s what it takes to make you laugh. You have one big sister, Audrey Kate. She is very sweet and can’t wait to dress you up and help me change your diaper. She will teach you how to sing happy songs. But that’s not all. You have a daddy that is total fun. He will ride you on his shoulders, give you anything you ask for, and tuck you in bed every night.

As for me, sweet Sam, I will make you these promises. I will never leave you. I will be a shoulder to cry on when your heart is broken. I’ll be the one on the sidelines screaming my head off for you to score. I’ll bring cookies to school to celebrate your birthday. I’ll teach you about Jesus and how much he loves you. My love will not come with conditions and it will last forever.

We are not perfect little one, but we are full of love for you. This spring, when new life is coming up all around us, you will be leaving the only place you’ve ever known as home. We will be with you and although you may be scared or feel sad, the five of us will comfort you. You will know that this is your home and we are your forever family.

I can’t wait to introduce you to your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends who have been faithfully praying for you. You are a blessing to all of us.

As for now we have to wait. We can only dream of the day we finally hold you. It is a sweet dream. Sam, we wish you sweet dreams until that day.

Love,

 Mommy and Daddy
