As I write we are just finishing up most of our Christmas
activities. We will travel to Virginia Beach soon to see the
rest of my family. This Christmas was so much fun. We loved
watching Sam enjoy her first Christmas. We are certain she LOVES
Christmas. Christmas morning she was the last one to wake up.
Normally she wants her bottle right away. As soon as we walked
into the den she pointed at the toys, just about jumped out of
my arms, and ran over to them. She never stopped playing. She
loved her toys and thought the day was so much fun.
Christmas Eve we attended our church Candle Light Service as we
always do. We decided to take Sam in the sanctuary with us
because we didn’t want to be apart from her on Christmas Eve. We
were prepared with goldfish crackers, her juice, a pacifier and
her lovie. Well I have to say Candle Light Service and Samantha
are not quite ready for each other. I’m certain if I had let go
of her she would have run down the center isle and right up on
stage with Pastor Munro and the Choir. She waved at each person
that walked by, was in and out of my arms and Greg’s arms. She
ate goldfish, spilled them and crushed them on the floor. She
sat in the pew, stood on the pew and climbed all over the pew.
At one point she was playing with the pew pencil and dropped it.
It started rolling forward under the pews in front of us. She
started crawling after it and I grabbed her foot just in time.
Who knows how many pews she would have crawled under before I
caught up with her. Eventually Greg took her out to the Galleria
area where he said the party continued. She was actually quite
adorable. We are just not sure if everyone around us would
agree.
Samantha is getting more verbal everyday. She babbles a lot. We
can understand Mama, Dada, brothers (others),
I love you (I oooo), and bottle (da da). Whenever we say “Time
for the blessing,” she stops whatever she is doing, folds her
hands and bows her head. She keeps her eyes open and peeks up at
you to see if your looking at how cute she is.
She is still very attached to me and that is great as far as I’m
concerned. I put her in the hip hammock and can clean , cook ,
or do laundry all while holding her. She loves it. She also
loves to be outside. No matter what the temperature she is ready
to go for a walk. She loves to be in her stroller walking around
the neighborhood. She is the picture of contentment when she is
outside. We also discovered that Sam loves ice cream. She will
fit right in because the rest of us do also.
Samantha has a new trick. At night as her bedtime approaches she
comes to life. Greg calls it the “Johnny Carson Show” . She
knows we love to watch her and she starts the entertainment
about 20 minutes before bedtime. Could she possibly know we will
delay bedtime just to watch this show? She truly is a ham. Once
we start laughing she keeps it coming. We are loving every
minute with her and fall more in love with her everyday.
We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and wish you God’s
blessings in the New Year. |
