Our Journey
Begins
Our journey to Annabel officially started two years ago when
Steve and I had our first meeting with Holt, our International
Adoption Agency. However, our journey really began on a day
months before when I was watching our oldest daughter Mia play
with her neighborhood friend, a darling girl who was adopted
from China. At the time, someone very close to us was struggling
with IVF and while watching the two girls play I was inspired me
to do some research on the process of international adoption
from China for my friend.
What I learned about these beautiful, abandoned babies and their
need for loving families tugged at my heart and drew me back
regularly for further research. Soon Steve was caught up in the
story of these children as well and eventually we determined
that if we ever decided to have a third child, we were committed
to adopting a daughter from China.
Everything Happens For a Reason
While we had always planned to have a second child, our lives
took some unexpected turns on that path and, earlier than we had
expected, we found ourselves one evening in the Spring of 2004
in the living room of our social worker from Holt taking the
first step on a very long new path to bring our second daughter
home to us from across the world.
We feel extremely blessed for the seed that was planted in our
hearts to adopt from China and for the strength we have had to
endure the process.
