ABOUT REBECCA LING
(BECCA)
Scroll down for updated information posted December 14, 2006
On November
30, we received the referral phone call. Our daughter’s
Chinese name is Feng Chao Ling. Feng is her last name,
while Chao is after her city and means “nest.” Ling means
“clever and nimble”, and originally refers to the tinkling
of pieces of jade. Her birthday is December 4, 2005. She
is currently residing in the Chaohu Juchao District
Children’s Welfare Institute, Anhui Province, People’s
Republic of China.
On September 28, 2006, she had her most recent medical
exam. She is deemed a healthy girl with a height of 26.8
inches and a weight of 15.4 pounds. While she is small by
American standards, she is in the normal range for Chinese
growth. She is reported to be a deep sleeper (yeah!), and
though quiet herself (we’re sure that will change), she is
not fond of quietness (that’s good!) She is fond of
listening to music, has a ready smile, is quick in
reaction, and is able to stand alone for a moment. Her
report also says she laughs aloud… that’s probably why she
is ours! Luckily, they did not report her to be obstinate
or impatient!
We spent many hours coming up with the perfect name for
our daughter. Wanting a name that was Biblical, we chose
Rebecca, which means “bound or tied.” We hope that not
only is our daughter bound to us, but that she will be
bound to God. We have decided to use Ling as her middle
name. |

This is a direct copy of the translation of Becca's records
that we received on December 14, 2006. It appears that she was
about 9 months old when this was written. When she was
originally found, she was 11 days old. Her height at that time
converts to 18.9 inches and her weight to 6.6 pounds.
