October 2006
We MAY be next….
We have waited a few days to send this update, as we were trying
to figure out what the CCAA in China is doing. Referrals have
been at the end of the month lately, and rumors have been flying
around the adoption websites since mid October that referrals
were on the way. Well, Halloween came, and no referrals. It is a
very emotional time (mainly for Angie) while waiting to find out
who would get referrals. We did not expect one this month, but
when it started taking so long, we (Angie, really) began to hope
that maybe more referrals would be made. The big question was
whether or not August 24th would be included in the referrals
this month. Apparently, there are tons of people with LID’s of
August 24, so if that day were included, it would mean we were
one step closer. On November 2, referrals were received for
families logged in through August 25!
Our LID is August 30, 2005, so we should be included in the next
batch of referrals. Hopefully, they will be sent out at the end
of November or early December and we will finally get to see
Becca’s face. Don’t worry…we’ll email everyone as soon as we
find out anything. Just please continue to pray for us, as the
waiting is getting harder.
In other news…
Victor started the month of October at a medical conference in
Nevada. Angie wasn’t able to go with him, but he was able to go
with a good friend of his from his residency days in Savannah.
We are very fortunate to live in an area where there is a lot of
support for international adoption. We are members of the
International Adoptive Families of Southwest Missouri, a local
support group. In addition to monthly informative meetings, the
group celebrates holidays such as Lunar New Year and the Moon
Festival. Going to these activities will be one way we can help
our daughter learn about her heritage. In nearby Branson, Missouri,
there is an Acrobats of China show. We went last year, and were
amazed (and terrified!) by the acts. The group in Branson is
very supportive of adoptive families, and is planning a special
day next year just for the children. They will be able to take a
boat ride, eat a special meal, and have a show performed just
for them. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun!
Fall has been absolutely beautiful here in The Ozarks. The trees
are gorgeous this year! Of course, fall also means football.
We’ve been pulling for The University of Missouri Tigers, the
University of Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons and St.
Louis Rams (they are ALL painful to watch at times). Oh, and of
course, for THE WORLD CHAMPION ST. LOUIS CARDINALS! Victor tried
to take a picture of Angie in her Cardinals shirt, but she just
couldn’t do it. And she did pull for the Braves, but it didn’t
seem to help! |

Victor enjoyed the scenery at
Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

Maggie is clearly a fan
of the World Champion Cardinals!

People and businesses in the area love to decorate for fall.
This was at the College of the Ozarks.

Okay, so my decorations aren’t as elaborate…but aren’t Maggie
and Jake cute at the door?
