What's new with Isabelle? Well, she is a one person wrecking crew as of late. She is thoroughly fascinated with taking things, anything, out of it's receptacle and throwing it on the floor. She doesn't even look back to see where her victim lands or enjoy the gigantic mess she is creating, instead she keeps her eye on the work yet to be done. It would be quite amusing to watch her go, if it wasn't such a chore to clean up after her. She is quite adept at walking now and I don't think it will be long until she is running. She is beginning to understand how to get down the stairs, rear end first. I am hoping the baby gates can be a thing of the past in a few more months. Her newest fascination is trying to climb. She swings one leg up and tries to heave herself up onto, well, whatever she can! She still loves to play outside and the weather lately has been perfect for it. Unfortunately we haven't been seeing a lot of the outside lately since a virus has struck our house. First!   Asher became sick and then Dalton and Isabelle a few days later. Tori and I only had a few mild symptoms, thankfully, but Zach has the full blown virus now also. Instead of our usual busy weekend, we have been holed up at the house watching DVDs on the pullout sofa and trying to recuperate for the upcoming week. Please keep us in your prayers for a quick and complete recovery.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of hosting my sister's family for four days and everyone had a great time. The kids loved having their cousins to play with and Uncle Bob to wrestle with and take them fishing. It was great for me to see my sister, Angie, and show her all the amazing changes in Isabelle since she saw her last. She helped me muster the courage to do what I've been wanting to do for several months...have Isabelle's ears pierced. We made the trek to the mall and I'll admit, I was nervous to be sure! But Isabelle did wonderfully and only fussed as long as I had to hold her still. She looks beautiful with her new little flower earrings, too. Later that weekend we made the trip to Eckert's Farm to pick pumpkins. It was a beautiful fall day and everyone was excited to choose their very own pumpkin, not to mention the tractor ride out to the field. Isabelle wasn't crazy about the pumpkins, but did enjoy the ride and all the dirt she found in the pumpkin field. After the kids carefully selected their pumpkins and we loaded our precious cargo into the car, we decided to check out the "Kiddie Korral". It consisted of several pseudo-carnival rides, a hay bale maze and a petting zoo. Each of the kids got to choose three rides and just as we finished it was closing time. Isabelle's favorite was the train ride she took with Dalton and I. It was so much fun to experience the excitement and newness of the day through her eyes. After we left the farm we picked up s'more supplies and headed home for a bonfire. Uncle Bob did his magic and was able to get the fire perfect for marshmallow roasting. Isabelle didn't seem too impressed with the fire, but did manage to down several graham crackers and chocolate bars.

Isabelle's eating has increased quite dramatically lately. Now I can actually get her to eat in her highchair three times a day. Not long ago she used this time to see how quickly she could get the dog to snatch the food from her hand or how flat she could squish a piece of American cheese onto her tray. Her favorites are still pasta and cheese, but she also likes tacos, cereal with milk, and ANYthing in a sippy cup. She carries her sippy cup around like a trophy. I think it's a sign of being a 'big kid' to her and she just loves to have one to show off. I finally switched to water only so she can throw and beat it all she wants and it doesn't wreck the used-to-be-new-before-Isabelle carpet. In honor of all the new eating and drinking she's been doing, she has gotten 3 new teeth in the last month. The latest, the lower right one, made it's debut just a few days ago. Her hair is also growing, though not as quickly as I'd like. I still can't keep a clip in it for more than 30 !  minutes. It is getting longer, but isn't thickening up much. I believe good nutrition will help, it will just take some time. It still has an adorable curl to it that surprises everyone. She is truly one of a kind in so many ways. We are very much looking forward to the surprises in store for us as Isabelle's new family.
