Nee Wun -
It's quite late here in Guangzhou (Nee Wun means good evening).
We are a bit slap happy as we have had a trains planes and
automobiles kind of travel day. We took a short bus ride to the
Changsha airport today and then flew to Guangzhou. It was
another 45 minute bus ride to the White Swan hotel from there.
We arrived around 9:00 PM and everyone was tired . . . except
Annabel! She has released the inner spicy Hunan baby girl. She
was smiling and laughing and really interacting with us today.
She spent a great deal of the evening rolling over in the bed
after her bath and just waiting for us to cheer (which of course
we did). We could barely keep her from rolling off the bed!
We also brought her to the play room in Changsha just before our
departure and found out that she loves the walkers that they
have here in China (the kind with wheels that are now illegal in
the US). She was cruising around the halls with reckless
abandon. We are very excited to see that she is coming out of
her shell. She is even letting Steve hold her and smiling when
we kiss and tickle her. She is one of the most content babies in
our group.
Mia and Steve started a new kind of soccer yesterday that plays
a bit like Polo (only the horses are much smaller and made of
rubber).
Guangzhou is like the Las Vegas of China. There are tall
buildings and bright lights everywhere. We are all really happy
to get out of Changsha as we spent quite a few days there and
the only western style food was pizza (which Annabel appears to
enjoy as much as Andrea). We really enjoyed our stay but
Guangzhou is a welcome change. The hotel is a five star and from
what we have seen so far it is amazing!
I guess the big story is Yippo got to check into his own room in
Guangzhou. You can see him here kickin it in his bed watching a
bit of David Letterman. He mentioned to me earlier that he was
going to go to the spa tomorrow and see what kind of massage and
salon services they have.
Big events will be happening here in Guangzhou over the next few
days. Tomorrow is Andrea's Birthday, and we complete all the
paperwork for Annabel's US passport and visa. Then it's a few
days rest and we swear Annabel in as a US citizen. That day also
happens to be our wedding anniversary. It's going to be a busy
week! |
